Notebook Rebound Boosts European PC Shipments
The PC commercial market seems to be regaining some health. Total PC shipments in the EMEA region were 16.1 million units in Q2 2016, 4.7% down year-on-year but better than expected, according to IDC. Numbers in Western Europe were down just 0.8%, bolstered by commercial notebook sales that rose 10.5%. Skylake-based designs and Windows 10 both contributed. The analyst noted that while Brexit may bring some additional challenges, there was no sign of a direct contraction yet. But it also noted that manufacturers might review their pricing plans sooner rather than later.
Detachables are expected to keep driving growth in coming years. They accounts for around 16% of the PC market now but will claim a 31% chunk by 2020.
