Why it matters

Organisations that procure devices through traditional capital models face recurring problems. Device costs arrive in large annual blocks, making budgeting difficult and forcing difficult trade-off choices when additional equipment is needed mid-cycle. Managing device configurations separately from purchasing means a gap between procurement and actual deployment. When device lifecycles end, security and environmental questions arise, where did those devices go, how were they handled, were data destruction standards met? Managing devices this way consumes time and creates compliance risk, but the alternative – ignoring lifecycle questions entirely – creates bigger problems.

SCC delivers Device as a Service, a consumption-based model that eliminates the capital outlay and replaces it with predictable monthly payments. We bundle hardware selection, initial configuration, secure deployment and planned end-of-life management into a single contracted service. You select the device persona that matches your user population, we configure and deploy it with zero-touch provisioning, and when the device lifecycle ends, we handle secure data destruction and recycling through our certified secure disposal process. This transforms device acquisition and lifecycle management from a capital project with compliance overhead into an operational service with fixed costs and clear accountability.

Hardware, initial configuration, provisioning and end-of-life secure recycling included in one monthly cost. No hidden procurement, deployment or disposal expenses to manage separately.

 Key features

Persona-driven device selection

We guide you through device selection based on actual user roles and workload requirements, not one-size-fits-all procurement. Each persona (knowledge worker, creative professional, field technician) maps to specific hardware configurations optimised for its use case. This ensures users get the device they actually need, not over-specified equipment that wastes budget or under-specified devices that create support tickets and adoption friction.

Zero-touch provisioning and deployment

Devices arrive pre-configured to your security standards and user requirements. Deployment is automated – when a user powers on their device, it connects to your identity provider, downloads policies and applications, and is ready for work within minutes. This eliminates manual imaging, staging and hand-off time. Users receive devices that are work-ready on day one, not devices that require weeks of IT preparation.

Fixed monthly costs with no capital outlay

Device costs move from capital budgets to operational expense, paid as a monthly subscription. Budgeting becomes predictable. Scaling is frictionless – add or remove devices without procurement cycles or capital approval gates. You know your device cost per user per month, making financial forecasting straightforward and enabling chargeback to departments if needed.

Integrated end-of-life and secure disposal

When devices reach end of service life, we take ownership of secure data destruction and recycling through our certified disposal partner. You don’t manage the logistics or compliance burden. Devices are securely wiped to government standards, refurbished where viable for resale, or processed through certified e-waste recycling. You maintain visibility through our secure chain of custody documentation.

How it works

Step 1

Define device personas

We work with you to understand your user population and their actual workload requirements. This might include office-based knowledge workers, remote creative professionals, field technicians, manufacturing floor workers or customer-facing roles. For each persona, we select hardware that optimises performance, compatibility and total cost of ownership without over-specification.

Step 2

Establish baseline and forecast

We map your current device count, anticipated scaling needs and seasonal variations in device deployment. This produces a baseline monthly cost that accounts for device provisioning, maintenance and end-of-life management. Costs scale up or down as actual device counts change, with monthly billing visibility.

Step 3

Configure and test deployment

Devices are configured to your security policies, compliance requirements and standard application stack. We test the deployment process end-to-end, including provisioning, policy application, authentication and user onboarding. When you’re ready, deployment automation takes over.

Step 4

Deploy to users

New devices arrive at user locations and are provisioned automatically when powered on. Existing device refresh follows the same zero-touch process. Users receive work-ready devices without IT staging time or hand-off delays.

Step 5

Manage lifecycle and refresh

Throughout the service, we monitor device health, manage hardware refreshes as they age out, and coordinate secure disposal of retired devices. As your device count or persona mix changes, monthly costs adjust accordingly. When devices reach end of service life, they move into our secure recycling process with no additional action required from you.

FAQs

How is pricing structured — is it truly fixed month to month?

Yes. You pay a fixed monthly fee per device type based on the persona you’ve selected. Costs only change when you adjust device counts or swap device personas. Initial deployment, all configuration, provisioning automation, device support and end-of-life secure disposal are included. There are no separate procurement, imaging or disposal fees.

Can we change device types or scale up or down during the contract?

Yes. You can adjust device counts month to month and swap personas if user requirements change. This flexibility is one of the service’s core benefits – scaling device investment with actual business needs rather than planning cycles.

What happens when a device reaches end of service life?

We manage the entire handoff. Devices are picked up or shipped to our secure recycling partner, undergoes certified data destruction to government standards, and are either refurbished for resale or processed through WEEE-compliant recycling. You receive documentation confirming destruction and disposal throughout the process.

Does Device as a Service work with our existing IT tools and policies?

Yes. We configure devices to your security standards, identity provider, application requirements and compliance policies. Zero-touch provisioning means devices connect to your existing infrastructure automatically. The service augments your operations without requiring platform changes.

What about device support and repairs — are those included?

Standard device support is included in the monthly cost. For repairs and replacements, refer to the Field Services offering, which provides nationwide on-site support, break-fix capability and device swap through smart lockers.
