SCC was proud to support the Women in Tech Meet Up in Birmingham, where our Chief Information Officer, Nat Sherratt, and Head of AI UK, Rose Palacios, joined industry peers to discuss leadership, confidence and allyship in the technology sector.

The event brought together professionals from across the region to share experiences, build connections and explore how organisations can create environments where women can thrive.

A special thank you goes to organiser Claire Mironik for creating such a welcoming and inspiring space for meaningful conversations and networking.

During the session, Nat and Rose reflected on their own career journeys, sharing lessons learned along the way and highlighting the importance of finding your voice, backing yourself and recognising that successful careers rarely follow a linear path.

The discussion also explored how leaders can build confidence within their teams, foster inclusive cultures and create opportunities for others to succeed.

One of the key themes of the event was the importance of allyship. While progress continues to be made across the technology industry, strong networks, visible sponsorship and active support remain critical factors in helping women progress into leadership roles.

Nat and Rose discussed how influential allies can help open doors, create opportunities and champion talent, reinforcing the idea that building diverse, high-performing teams requires collective effort from leaders at every level.

The event served as a powerful reminder that creating inclusive workplaces is not simply about representation. It is about fostering cultures where people feel supported, valued and empowered to reach their full potential.

Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to the discussion. We were delighted to be part of the event and look forward to continuing the conversation in the future.
