Andy Merefield joins SCC from SGN to drive operational transformation

SCC, Europe’s largest privately owned technology provider, has appointed Andy Merefield as UK Chief Information Officer (CIO). The appointment comes as SCC UK accelerates its transformation under CEO Russell Brown, with a renewed focus on customer engagement and significant investment in AI, cyber, data and customer experience.

Merefield joins SCC UK with 30 years of experience in the technology sector, including 11 years at energy network operator SGN and 20 years at Computacenter. During his tenure at SGN, Merefield led significant IT transformation programmes, including the transition to a third-party IT services model and a multi-year migration of infrastructure and applications to AWS public cloud. He also oversaw a significant investment programme into cyber security, strengthening the resilience and recovery capabilities of critical national infrastructure against evolving threats.

In his new role, Merefield will lead SCC UK’s IT operations, focusing on simplifying and standardising core platforms, strengthening data capabilities and accelerating the adoption of emerging technologies, including AI. Working as part of the UK executive leadership team and with the wider SCC Group, he will help align the company’s internal technology infrastructure with its growth ambitions and customer-facing services.

Merefield’s appointment follows a string of executive-level additions to the SCC team over the past year, including Russell Brown as UK Chief Executive Officer and Alexandra Wilkinson as Head of Public Sector.
