The situation
MBDA, a defence company, made a strategic decision to separate its IT operations from the three parent companies that own it. The organisation needed to establish independent IT capability whilst operating in an environment with demanding security and regulatory requirements. MBDA had worked with SCC for over ten years and understood that SCC had experience navigating government sector requirements that most technology providers lack. The challenge was not merely to buy IT services but to build an operation where new employees could be productive from their first day and where customers, many of them government agencies, could confidently work with MBDA’s technology infrastructure.
What SCC did
SCC provides front office support for equipment delivery and configuration. When an employee joins MBDA, the onboarding process includes coordinated IT provisioning. Equipment is delivered to the location where the person will work. Applications are pre-configured so the employee can log in, authenticate and immediately access the systems they need. For the customer-facing teams, this day-one readiness is particularly important because customers expect to collaborate with MBDA colleagues immediately, not wait for their accounts and devices to be set up.
What changed
New employee onboarding runs without friction. Customer teams that visit MBDA facilities or work collaboratively with MBDA staff experience an organisation where technology infrastructure is reliable and secure. The government customers that MBDA works with see an environment where security practices are taken seriously.
What the client learned
