Marubeni-Komatsu

The situation

Marubeni-Komatsu is the sole distributor of Komatsu construction equipment in the UK, a role the company has held since 1972. Based in Redditch, the organisation recently undertook a broader office refurbishment. The leadership team recognised that the existing meeting room technology was outdated and did not support how the business now operates.

Staff increasingly collaborate with customers and partners located elsewhere. Conference calls and video meetings are common. The old meeting room setups, a single speakerphone in the centre of a table, perhaps a projector for presentations, were inadequate for modern hybrid working.

What SCC did

SCC’s Visavvi division designed and installed audio-visual solutions across the boardroom, meeting rooms and collaboration spaces. Each space was configured with a specific purpose in mind. The boardroom required formal presentation capability and video conferencing that could host external participants with professional quality. Smaller meeting rooms needed equipment that could support impromptu collaboration without requiring setup time.

All systems were integrated with Microsoft Teams, so participants could join calls directly from the room without manual intervention.

What changed

Meetings that include both in-office and remote participants now function smoothly. The quality of video and audio means that remote participants can see presentations clearly and contribute to discussions without feeling disconnected. Staff can book a room and start a Teams meeting knowing that the technology will work.

What the client learned

Marubeni-Komatsu found that the investment in meeting room technology removed a friction point from daily work. Staff discovered that they could collaborate more effectively with customers and partners outside the office, opening possibilities for distributed project teams and remote customer engagement.
