Enabling DIO’s Transition to Secure, Off‑Premise Storage

1. The Challenge

DIO was operating with an ageing on-premise storage network located in Sutton Coldfield.

As part of a planned office relocation from Sutton Coldfield to Lichfield, where no on premise storage capability would be available, the organisation needed to migrate its existing infrastructure into government hosted facilities off premise,

At the same time, existing infrastructure constraints and reliance on legacy systems meant DIO required a modernised storage area network delivered via Crown Hosting.

2. The Solution

SCC conducted a full workshop with DIO to identify business priorities, application requirements and migration specifications.

Taking a vendor agnostic approach, SCC implemented a HPE 3PARbased solution, supported by an enhanced Secure Support package.

Alongside the technology implementation, SCC provided professional services to:

• Decommission the legacy on‑premise storage network
• Establish the new storage environment within Crown Hosting
• Migrate DIO from its on‑premise infrastructure to the new off‑premise HPE 3PAR platform

The Secure Support wrap, delivered by HPE, remains in place today as an ongoing support agreement.

3. The Outcomes

SCC successfully enabled DIO to complete its office move from Sutton Coldfield to Lichfield within projected timescales, supporting the transition away from legacy on‑premise infrastructure.

The upgraded storage environment delivered improved operational efficiency and productivity, while establishing a secure, off‑premise platform aligned to DIO’s future infrastructure requirements.

In addition, the enhanced Secure Support wrap remains in place as an ongoing support agreement through to 2027, providing DIO with continued assurance and long‑term infrastructure support.
