“SCC has been excellent at learning with us and supporting our surgeries to deliver all of the information they need, whenever they require.”
NHS Central Midlands Commissioning Support Unit (CSU) works with around 100 surgeries in the area, serving nearly 400,000 patients. Having installed plasma screens in surgery waiting rooms across the region to provide patients with information on the summary care record, the CSU quickly realised the technology was neither a flexible nor a cost-effective solution.
It wasn’t possible for surgeries to get other messages to patients on the screens, or for the managers of those surgeries to easily make any changes that they needed to. No solution covering the entire area would allow common messages and localised information to be presented to patients.
SCC was asked to assess a number of potential solutions being used in other NHS practices and, following a detailed evaluation, the CSU purchased the ONELAN digital signage system. SCC has since introduced the system to over 100 GP surgeries.
Ritchie Brett, E-communications Manager, said: “Working with SCC to implement the digital signage system, we delivered exactly against our objectives of providing relevant and timely information to GP surgery patients across our region. “The system they advised us on is far more flexible than any of the other solutions out there, and that factor coupled with its web-based access and easy interface made it the obvious choice for us. “SCC has been excellent at learning with us and supporting our surgeries to deliver all of the information they need, whenever they require.”
