As Linux containers and related technologies grow in importance to enterprise IT, we are pleased to announce that our efforts in delivering reliable, flexible and standards-based container solutions have been recognised by Virtualization Review magazine with a 2016 Editor’s Choice Award. Awarded by Virtualisation Review contributor Dan Kusnetzky, a well-regarded enterprise IT watcher and analyst, Red Hat’s entire container technology portfolio is called out, but Dan specifically discusses Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform and Red Hat Virtualisation.

As Dan points out in his review, we have integrated Linux containers across our portfolio and made the technology production-ready for enterprise customers. What this means in practice is that we’ve thought of how containers impact security needs, management and hybrid computing environments, and stand ready to support a broad range of IT scenarios involving containers on Red Hat solutions up and down the stack.

It’s this desire to move Linux containers from a “computer science project,” as Dan calls it, to a production-ready tool without removing customer choice that put Red Hat in the winners circle. Dan mentions that not only does Red Hat sell our container technologies ready-to-go out of the box, but we’re more than willing to work with respective customers on their specific workloads and infrastructure needs.

You can read about all of the winners here, but we’d like to congratulate all of our product teams who have worked so hard to bring an integrated, enterprise-ready container technology stack to the enterprise.
