HP Sprocket Puts Photo Printing in your Pocket
HP has come up with a pocket-sized photo printer, that requires no ink replenishment. The device looks like and is about the same size as a mobile phone and it can print photos directly from your smartphone or tablet.
The Sprocket prints 2-inch by 3-inch photos directly from a smartphone. It uses Bluetooth to connect wirelessly and ZINK Zero Ink technology (see https://www.zink.com/) to avoid any need for an ink cartridge. This uses a composite material with embedded CYMG dye crystals inside under a protective polymer overcoat Heat activates the crystals to produce colour and this simple process results is high-quality, long-lasting and durable images.
The HP Sprocket comes with a free app for on iOS and Android that can be used to tweak photos by adding a frames or text. The paper is smudge-proof and has a peel-and-stick backing back, so it’s easy to attach the photos to pages of books or other surfaces. A pack of 10 sheets is provided with the printer and thereafter they are available in packs of 20. The Sprocket is available in black or white.
