HP Hails Spectre as ‘World’s Thinnest’ 13-Inch Notebook

HP SpectreHP has announced its new Spectre laptop, proclaiming it to be the world’s thinnest 13.3-inch notebook yet produced. By incorporating the latest innovations, HP has made the machine just 10.4 mm thin and at 1.10 kilograms (2.45 lbs), it is also one of the very lightest in its class.

CNC-machined anodized aluminium, combined with carbon fibre has been used for the main body. The Spectre also has a custom display panel with Gorilla Glass 4 as well as special recessed piston hinges. Despite its diminutive size, the Spectre makes use of the powerful Intel’s Core i5 and i7 processors and has a PCIe-based SSD. It also comes with a full-size keyboard, advanced Bang and Olufsen audio, and an impressive battery life of over nine hours.

Expected to ship in June, the Spectre can be expected to have an immediate impact. In terms of its relative a performance and size, there is no other notebook on the market to match it and it is also price-competitive, with the HP website quoting a starting price of only $1169.99.
