Get Ready for SQL 2005 EoS
Microsoft SQL Server 2005 reaches End of Support in April 2016, so customers who are still on this version of the database engine will need to start considering an upgrade now. At present, the main options are stepping up to SQL Server 2014 or migrating onto the Azure SQL Database platform. Both options offer significant benefits over the older version – SQL Server 2014 has been benchmarked to be 13 times faster than SQL Server 2005 plus AlwaysOn Availability features, while Azure provides the unbounded scalability and flexibility of the Cloud and an easier upgrade path to SQL Server 2016, which
is due to be released later this year.
