Microsoft is offering customers the opportunity to upgrade to the latest version of its ubiquitous desktop productivity suite. Now officially launched, Office 2016 is available for users to download right away.
Built for mobility and the cloud, the new version also works in harness with Windows 10 to provide users with flexible, fluid productivity. Key features include enhanced IT management capabilities and simpler integration options for Office 365.
Business users with volume licensing agreements for Office can download the Office 2016 suite now from Microsoft’s Volume Licensing Service Centre.
Office 365 ProPlus Business subscribers will have a choice of receiving new features and security on a monthly basis under an option now called Current Branch, while Enterprise users can take advantage the Current Branch for Business option, which will deliver three feature updates annually while providing monthly security updates. The latter will make it easier to plan ahead for testing and customisation and will be available from February 2016.
Users with Personal or Home subscriptions who update to Office 2016 will start getting automatic monthly updates right away
There are new tools and resources to make deployment and management of Office easier. There is a Background Intelligent Transfer Service to help administrators better control network traffic when they deploy updates. The Office 365 admin portal will provide new reports on Office activation and usage, and there is across-app support for data loss prevention and multi-factor authentication.
