AppSense Gaining Ground with Endpoint Security

Appsense-2AppSense, the leading provider of user environment management (UEM) software, has reported that a growing number of customers are now using it for endpoint security.

In just six months, the vendor has added more than 500,000 seats of its endpoint security product, known as Application Manager. The solution blocks unauthorised code from executing on a machine, ensuring that users cannot accidentally introduce malware into their organisation.

Jed Ayres, Senior Vice President of Marketing at AppSense said that Application Manager also has a unique way to bypass whitelisting and blacklisting management issues, using a technique AppSense calls Trusted Ownership. This technique ensures that users can only access apps and data that they’re authorised to work with.

AppSense’s Application Manager business is growing at a 50% year-over-year clip and Ayres believes it is now an up-and-coming player in the endpoint security space.

He told CRN earlier this month: “Organisations spend a lot of time and energy securing the network through firewalls. But it’s the endpoint that has been involved in many recent breaches.”

AppSense acquired 230 new customers during the first half of its fiscal year 2016 and now has an installed base of 9 million seats. They have signed up several large enterprise customers and are working on a deal involving some 90,000 seats of Application Manager, Ayres reported.

AppSense has sold its software through the channel for the past several years and, in June last year, pushed this further with a programme in which AppSense direct sales representatives receive incentives for working deals with channel partners. This has paid off as Ayres stated that 84% of new sales in its first half were handled by AppSense partners.
