4K UHD Sales on the Rise

Revenues from 4K Ultra HD displays are on pace to exceed $12 billion in 2016, up 105% from 2015, according to a report from the US-based Consumer Technology Association (CTA). The organisation says that 62% of consumers plan to purchase some form of Ultra HD content viewing device in next 12 months with the wider availability of content and more affordable screens helping to drive sales. The main consumer preferences were screen size (80%) and picture quality (62%). Shipments of 15 million units are expected this year, with revenue topping $12 billion, a three figure year-on-year increase. This means that almost half of all TV sales will be made up of 4K UHD units.
