SCC expands green initiatives as part of long-term ESG strategy
New sustainability offerings reinforce SCC’s commitment to circular IT and carbon transparency
European technology solutions and services provider SCC has announced a series of new initiatives to drive sustainable IT practices, further embedding circularity and carbon transparency into its operations and services.
Strengthening its approach to IT carbon data and sustainability reporting, SCC has announced a new European partnership with Rejoose, to integrate Rejoose’s lifecycle carbon reporting capabilities, delivering high quality emissions insights across its IT supply chain.
Rejoose is a leading provider of carbon emission data solutions for the IT industry. This new collaboration enhances SCC’s ability to provide customers with high quality carbon footprint insights for their IT infrastructure and devices, ensuring they have the data needed to measure, manage, and reduce their carbon footprint effectively.
With over 10,000 European companies now obligated to disclose environmental impact under the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), businesses need accurate, science-based emissions data more than ever.
By integrating Rejoose’s lifecycle carbon reporting capabilities, SCC will deliver transparent Scope 2 and Scope 3 emissions data across its supply chain, supporting businesses in aligning their sustainability strategies with global standards such as CSRD, CDP, and EU Taxonomy.
Alex Groves, Head of Sustainability at SCC UK, said: “This new partnership with Rejoose strengthens SCC’s ability to provide high quality activity based product carbon data, enabling customers to make fully informed decisions about the environmental impact of their IT estates. The insights gained through this collaboration will form the foundation for several enhanced sustainability offerings SCC will introduce in 2025.”
Matt Ruskin, CCO at Rejoose, said: “Rejoose is proud to partner with SCC across Europe in its drive to support their customers’ drive to improve circularity and achieve carbon goals. SCC is an organisation that demonstrates a leading approach to sustainability which is entirely in step with Rejoose’s ambition to provide the highest quality of automated emissions data on IT products.”
SCC has also announced new trade-in schemes to extend the lifecycle of IT devices and support customers in transitioning to Windows 11 before the October 2025 deadline. These initiatives will make it easier for businesses to responsibly retire redundant IT devices, with increased capital release against core laptop and smartphone models, simplified device removal processes, and enhanced grading standards to maximise reusability.
The scheme will be delivered through SCC Recyclea, SCC’s dedicated IT asset disposition (ITAD) and recycling service, designed to maximise the lifecycle of IT equipment while ensuring secure and sustainable disposal. As a £5 million investment, SCC Recyclea provides businesses with a seamless and compliant solution for managing redundant IT assets, including refurbishment, resale, and responsible recycling.
By prioritising reuse over disposal, SCC Recyclea supports circular economy principles, reducing e-waste and enabling organisations to unlock residual value from their IT investments while minimising environmental impact.
Adrian Saint, GM at SCC Recyclea, commented: “As part of our long-term commitment to sustainable IT, we are focused on making it easier for organisations to embrace circularity. The launch of our enhanced trade-in schemes and device lifecycle programmes will help businesses unlock value from their redundant IT while significantly reducing e-waste.”
Andy Wright, GM Digital Workplace at SCC UK, added: “This is the start of further embedding circularity in everything we do. Our ambition is to elevate the decision-making ability of our customers and help them reduce the environmental impact of their IT investments. Over the next year, we will be accelerating our efforts, bringing a range of new services and sustainability-led offerings to market.”
