SCC’s outstanding CSR work wins prestigious award

Strong competition was fought off as SCC scooped the CSR Award at the Comms National Awards 2019 on Thursday 10th October. The award was given to the ICT business that has “embraced CSR in a highly positive manner” and has “developed successful programmes to make the organisation socially accountable to itself, its stakeholders, its customers and the general public.” SCC wowed the judges with its initiatives, which included: The Healthy Employee Scheme – which aims to improve the health and wellbeing of employees; fundraising and awareness activities – via support of many charities; and more recently the canal adoption scheme. SCC has teamed up with the Canal and Rivers Trust and adopted a stretch of canal near SCC HQ in Birmingham. More than 45 SCC employees have volunteered since July to help clean and maintain the area, making it a better environment for local people and wildlife. As part of its CSR programme, SCC has begun working more closely with its customer Staffordshire County Council and supporting its care leavers. Each year, 100 or so young people leave the care system, and around 10% of those pursue higher education. SCC supported this year’s young people going onto university education with a laptop each, 12 in total. It’s a fantastic achievement for SCC to win the CSR Award and it’s all thanks to the brilliant, hard-working people at SCC. Each week your donations make a difference to the charities we support through our dress days and the multitude of fundraising activities. This award is for everyone at SCC!
