Leading integrator SCC has signed a G-Cloud services contract to provide the UK Government Digital Service (GDS) with hosting solutions and services.

SCC has become the first UK provider to be awarded Pan-Government accreditation for its secure IL2 and IL3 cloud services, the RM1557 agreement will see the company able to provide a trusted platform for a range of current and future digital public services. Awarded via the G-Cloud Framework, which enables the rapid sourcing and deployment of secure, low cost utility services to the UK public sector, the contract represents a significant landmark.

“One of our key strengths is in our ability to act as an agent for change. We share GDS’ commitment to creating a new generation of faster, better and more cost-effective digital services and are delighted to have been awarded a role in plans to drive this process forward, which we believe will ultimately deliver great value to the UK public sector,” said Tracy Westall, SCC’s UK Public Sector Director

SCC and E-petitions

The deal coincides with the first anniversary of the launch of GDS’ debut project E-petitions, which is hosted on SCC’s IL2 platform. The company collaborated closely with the service to support the fresh approach that it represented, using faster, more streamlined procurement delivered with cost transparency. During the first year of its life the site saw 13 million unique visitors contribute to 36,000 petitions at a total estimated cost to the Government of less than 1p per use.

As a result of SCC’s two year development path and seven figure investment in the platform, its Sentinel by SCC service, the cornerstone of OptimiseCloud™, has become the first to receive Pan-Government accreditation for IL2 and IL3. To date, nine of SCC’s G-Cloud services have been accredited, including infrastructure, back up, email and secure storage.

“G-Cloud is a concerted effort to enable the kind of technology initiatives that will help the Government deliver a new breed of services, and we’re proud to be playing a role in that mission. By building the UK’s first accredited Cloud and establishing a track record for working with the SME sector to help facilitate the delivery of their specialist skills to the platform, we believe we can help create the next generation of Cloud based solutions by dovetailing our enterprise grade security and data capabilities with the flexibility, speed and ingenuity of small and emerging technology firms.” said Tracy Westall, SCC’s UK Public Sector Director
