SCC has been named as one of the first resellers selected to take Microsoft’s Surface tablet range to the UK marketplace.
Previously only available direct from Microsoft, the consumer and professional versions of the company’s tablet computing series will be available through SCC with immediate effect. Backed by a comprehensive marketing campaign from Microsoft, the devices are expected to attract significant interest from enterprise users keen to introduce greater mobility and flexibility to corporate ICT.
“The Surface tablet series brings a new dimension and a range of fresh options to the commercial IT landscape. With a hugely significant proportion of Britain’s private and public sector organisations running on Microsoft products, we anticipate strong interest from customers looking to change the way they work and increase the options available to end users in a rapidly evolving marketplace,” said Andy Wright, SCC’s Director of Vendor Alliances.
“While initial media reaction to Windows 8 has been mixed and sometimes negative, we believe that the OS offers a secure and cost-effective alternative to the tablet market that many organisations will be open to.”
SCC will initially offer customers a choice of two versions of the Microsoft device. The Surface Pro – running Windows 8 – and the consumer facing Surface RT, which operates a stripped down version of the operating system.
Andy Wright added: “For SCC, Surface was an obvious and logical choice. Adding it to the range of hardware we supply is consistent both with our strategy of supporting multiple devices and operating systems and also our stated intention to help companies and organisations transform the way they work.”
