Public sector organisations seeking to take their first practical steps towards migrating to G-Cloud are to be given practical guidance on how to do so at a special conference organised by SCC.

The G-Cloud in Practice event will see a lineup of expert speakers including NHS England’s National Director for Patients & Information Tim Kelsey and Dr Richard Sykes, Chair of the Cloud Industry Forum. Using a blend of presentations, innovative case studies and informed discussions, the audience of public sector CTOs, CIOs and SIROs will be talked through the major issues, with practical examples providing insights on how to purchase, implement and generate cost savings through Cloud solutions.

“G-Cloud has passed the tipping point. With the government’s Cloud First policy now firmly on the agenda, we are beyond the point where organisations should be talking about migrating in theory. It’s time to talk about practical solutions, putting the theory that’s been central to conversation over the past two years to one side and moving towards real world implementations delivering benefits the public sector desperately needs,” said Rhys Sharp, SCC’s Public Sector CTO.”

With the NHS going through a period of fundamental change and the entire public sector dealing with a range of budgetary pressures, SCC has assembled a lineup of high-level speakers to help attendees understand how and why to buy into Cloud computing, how to begin the migration and how to ensure that it remains secure.

The event will demonstrate how many public sector organisations – including Central Government, Local Government, Police and Healthcare – are using innovative cloud solutions from SME software vendors to change the way they work with IT.

They include:

  • Informatics Merseyside – operators of the UK’s first Healthcare Cloud.
  • Alliantist – a multi-agency integration solution within criminal justice used by Greater Manchester Police.
  • FutureGov – a cross-agency solution used by a number of Local Authorities to identify who is working with vulnerable children.
  • NQC Ltd – a solution to ensure a sustainable public sector supply chain across the public sector.
  • IIzuka – an ISV delivering complex and highly secure public sector case managements.

Dr Richard Sykes, Independent Strategic Advisor & Commentator, and New Chair of the Cloud Industry Forum, said: “If you are considering sourcing cloud services, looking for new ways of service delivery, or migrating legacy systems into the cloud, this is a not to be missed event.”
