SCC nominated for National Recycling Award
SCC's industry-leading recycling centre has seen the company become a leading contender to win one of the UK's most coveted environmental awards.
Nominated for the prestigous Electrical and Electronic Equipment Recycler of the Year prize at the 2009 National Recycling Awards, SCC's unique state-of-the-art UK facility has been recognised for its role in driving forwards environmental best-practice in the business arena. Purpose built by Europe's largest independent technology solutions provider to process its customers' obsolete IT equipment, the centre recycles 90% of all materials, components and packaging passing through it while producing zero landfill.
"We're very proud to be nominated for one of Britain's most important environmental awards. Having invested heavily and consistently in building what we believe is the most advanced recycling centres of its kind, to be honoured in this manner has helped confirm that our long-standing determination to create an ethical waste management strategy has been fully justified," said facility director Jon Sansom
"Our success demonstrates that not only is recycling good for the planet, but also that it makes sound business sense. Not only do customers using the service enjoy confidence over their data security and full compliance with the disposal of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) regulations, but most have also made substantial savings on the cost of their IT infrastructure."
SCC's custom-built 50,000 square feet recycling facility offers a range of refurbishment, remarketing and data disposal services for firms where redundant IT can be taken away and new kit delivered.
Commenting on the nomination, MRW editor Paul Sanderson said: “The National Recycling Awards has been going for over ten years now and year after year the standard of entries gets higher. The calibre of submissions from across the UK shows that there is a huge passion and commitment to recycling and waste management in this country which made it really difficult for the judges and myself to choose finalists.”
“The National Recycling Awards is the perfect opportunity to celebrate the businesses and public sector organisations from every spectrum that are doing more than just their bit."
