The Prime Minister, Gordon Brown, visits SCH headquarters, Birmingham

Specialist Computer Holdings (SCH) welcomed The Prime Minister, Gordon Brown, to its Birmingham headquarters on 9 January 2009. As part of a three-day regional tour, The PM visited local businesses to learn how they were creating and safeguarding jobs as key elements in the fight against recession.

Sir Peter Rigby, Chairman & Chief Executive of SCH, said: “As a business that is generating positive results in difficult times, The Prime Minister was particularly interested in our apprentice training and re-skilling schemes, introduced under our own initiative, and our views on the digital economy - how to leverage IT for competitive advantage.

"We also discussed the importance of access to capital: specifically, to fund future planned investment and the critical issue of decreasing trade credit insurance."
