A simple renewal is rarely the straight-forward option, but finding the best deal at the right price with minimum impact on the business can be fraught with difficulties. Nottinghamshire County Council wanted to remove any risk of doing just this. It also wanted to create opportunities for cost savings and improve day to day operations.
SCC designed an innovative solution that provided a package of products and services covering more than a simple maintenance agreement, without any additional cost or potential disruption during the implementation.
A three-year contract was set up, closing existing maintenance agreements but including a number of cost effective new licenses for key projects that would roll out during the lifespan of the contract. A progressive partnership agreement involving IBM, the Council will gain from cost savings and improved service levels. Moreover, the maintenance agreement provides provision for growth and change, vital if the contract is to maintain its relevance to the Council.
Moreover, the solution will also enable the Council to adapt, evolve and improve its public services. Thanks to the cost savings created, it can now bring forward - by up to three years - a number of planned ICT projects creating wider benefits, namely operational benefits for its employees and wider publics.
