Arnold Clark Automobiles Limited is one of the largest car dealerships in Europe, with over 2million customers in the UK.
With the business growing at a rapid pace, Arnold Clark recognised that they needed to upgrade their IT infrastructure in order to maintain their momentum. Their goal was to stabilise the company and deliver an agile platform that not only allowed them to sustain the business, but to enable continued growth.
They then partnered themselves with SCC in order to help devise a solution which could see them achieve these goals. Chris Rydings, CTO at Arnold Clark said: “I reached out to SCC because I knew I could expect a partnership, as opposed to just a supplier relationship.”
SCC was able to quickly identify areas within the existing infrastructure which were not cost effective and where performance could be improved upon.
The solution SCC proposed saw Arnold Clark update their server and storage hardware, in order to provide scalability and flexibility for future expansion, as well as an overhaul of their telephony and email systems.

With the new Skype for Business and email systems, teams which before were segregated by location are now able to have quick chats and video calls. We’ve managed to develop a culture of togetherness and collaboration through use of this technology. It was a massive step forward into the 21st century for Arnold Clark.”
Arnold Clark also introduced Active Directory as part of the solution, enabling other services such as a new wi fi network to be introduced. This allows staff to roam between sites and access the network using their universal login credentials.
